Squamish election dates to note (source: The Chief newspaper)
In total, Squamish will elect one mayor, six councillors, and two school trustees.
Voting will take place in municipalities across the province on Saturday, Oct. 20. In Squamish, eligible voters can place their ballot at Brennan Park from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Special election polls will be set up at Hilltop House and Shannon Falls Retirement Residence on voting day for employees, patients and residents.
Residents can also attend advance voting days on:
Oct.10, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The 55 Activity Centre
Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Brennan Park Recreation Centre
Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The 55 Activity Centre
Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The 55 Activity Centre
The District uses the provincial voters list for the local election, but new voters who meet the criteria can register on the Elections BC website at elections.bc.ca/register-to-vote.
If you forget to register, you can still vote, but will be required to show two pieces of identification or sign a solemn declaration confirming your residence.
Voters are required to be Canadian citizens, age 18 or older, who have lived in B.C. for six months and have lived in Squamish or owned local property for at least 30 days before registering.

Better at Home programme.
You may want to know about the assistance offered by our Provincial Government in their “Better at Home” programme. It is meant to keep Seniors in their homes longer by providing low cost assistance with housekeeping chores including light yard work, grocery shopping etc.
The cost for these services is income dependent.
