Marlene Russell
President
Marlene has a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from U of A. She retired as a high school principal with 1000 students, grades 10 to 12. During her career, she was elected as the President of the Council on School Administration, and elected as the Vice President for the Canadian Association of Principals for Western Canada. In 1995, Marlene received the Distinguished Service Award from the Council on School Administration for her “exceptional leadership as Administrator of the Year at the School Level”. She and her husband moved to Squamish in 2009 and joined the Society to make new friends. They are passionate about traveling, and in their leisure time, they enjoy playing golf and bridge. They also volunteer at their daughter’s horse ranch located in Squamish Valley, where you will find them repairing/building barns and stables, painting fences and more.
Ross Dickson
Vice President
Ross has a background in education as a teacher, principal and senior administrator. He retired as Associate Superintendent of the Kamloops School District. After 50+ years in Kamloops, he and his wife moved to Squamish in 2019 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He is a member of the Squamish Rotary Club, a volunteer host at the Sea to Sky Gondola, Director of Marina Estates Strata Association, and host of the Men’s Coffee Club at Hilltop House.
Judi Rhodes
Treasurer
Judi has over twenty years experience as a volunteer with the #48 Baden Powell Scouting Guild West Vancouver serving as their treasurer. She began volunteering with us as acting Secretary and has been elected for a third term to oversee our financial matters in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements. Judi is a long time resident of Squamish and enjoys performing in the Sunshine Choir at various events.
Eleanor Bowcock
Secretary
Eleanor has a background in education as a school teacher. She has lived in Squamish for over 50 years and has strong ties to the community. She is serving her second term as secretary. She is key in ensuring the proper management and utilization of our important records.
Francois Morel
Director – Membership
Francois has a background in financial services. He was born and raised in Montreal and he and his wife moved to Squamish in 2021 to be closer to their only son. He has been elected a second time to develop and implement membership growth and retention strategies, administer and maintain member records, and receive feedback from members. He is motivated to demonstrate the value of being a member of our Society.
Nan Pellatt
Director – Programs
Nan had a fulfilling career primarily in customer service oriented roles. She retired as Executive and Constituency Assistant to elected Members of the Legislative Assembly. She moved from Kelowna to Squamish in 2021 to be closer to family. Family, friends and community are pillars supporting her well-being. In her leisure time, she loves walking, reading, knitting and playing bridge. Nan has undertaken the planning and development of new programs, events and activities in her first term. She is looking forward to generating new ideas that will reflect our memberships’ interests.
Laura Liberty
Director – External Relations & Communications
Laura has a background in senior leadership in Operations and Human Resources. She has a Bachelors Degree from SFU, and retired in 2021 as Director of Operations for a national crown corporation. She and her husband moved to Squamish from Vancouver in 2010, and enjoy motorcycle touring, camping, hiking, skate skiing, mountain biking, running, and squash. She is registered with BCRPA as a fitness leader in group fitness, weight training, and is a certified coach with Schwinn Indoor Cycling and Tabata Bootcamp Fitness. Recently, she took up a musical instrument, and began violin lessons. Laura is excited to play a role in shaping the new direction for the Society. In her first term, she will be working with our stakeholders and other partners on initiatives that support our mission and vision.
