Volunteer Opportunities

Community Garden Opportunity

Responses from our February survey indicated that there is some interest in learning more about gardening, either in your own yard or in a community plot.  In recent discussions with the District, the Society has been offered one (1) elevated garden plot for our use free of charge.

To take advantage of this opportunity, we are looking for one or more enthusiastic members to lead this initiative.  They will be eager to share their passion and knowledge of gardening with our members through hands-on advice and tutorials on basic or more advanced gardening topics.  Anything from where to start; how to get your garden ready for planting; choosing seeds, soils and fertilizers; what types of veggies grow well in Squamish; to how to harvest your garden.

For your efforts, you get to play in the dirt, connect with other members, share your expertise, and best of all, reap the benefits of what you grow!

If you think this is something you would be keen to do, please send an email to info@squamishseniorscentre.com by May 1.

If you aren’t sure what you would like to do, here are some ideas: research educational topics and/or present them to the membership; organize or co-host social events; use your knowledge or hobby know-how to help others learn something new. The possibilities are endless.
